The PS3 Slim is powered by a new 45nm version of the Cell processor, which although capable of the same operating speeds as the old 60nm processor is more energy efficient, smaller and more efficient in terms of power consumption. This reduction in power consumption and heat has helped reduce fan noise which is another positive feature of the PS3 slim.
The PS3 slim has a textured surface finish which is pretty smart, though un assuming.
A negative feature of the PS3 slim is that it is not backwardly compatable with PS2 games, but, with the PS2 now a few years old that probably isnt a major consideration for a lot of customers.
It is surprisingly easy to get a PS3 slim free with a mobile phone contract, given the fact they were only released a few weeks ago (from time of writing), but they are proving a really popular deal.
