The Nintendo Wii: a Perfect Free Gift With Your Mobile
With a Wii costing between £150 and £170 in the shops and on the internet, they make a great free gift incentive for mobile phones. I've found the Wii very entertaining, it's something both adults and children will enjoy in equal measure. Now I've been playing with the Wii for about four weeks I thought I'd do a write up, detailing what I find good and bad about the Wii.
Advantages of the Nintendo Wii
The size of the Nintendo Wii is definitely a good point. The Nintendo Wii is small and discrete, roughly the size of three DVD cases stacked on top of each other which is ideal in our house as it slots away from sight (and from clumsy kids!) quite easily so there's risk of it being stepped on and broken. The aesthetic element of the Nintendo Wii is also quite pleasing. It's white and the casing doesn't have any sharp points, making it family friendly also. The Nintendo Wii is designed well enough to be noticed in a room but also to attract attention if displayed. Another feature we felt stood out about the Nintendo Wii is the unusual controller. It's called a 'Wiimote' and comes with motion sensors that enable the user to interact directly with the game with only a wave of the controller. We're finding this makes it very easy to use. Although only the lightest touch is needed to get a reaction. The Wiimote also has force feedback which allows the user to experience shakes and rumbles that are happening in the game. The Wiimote also has a sound feature that reacts to certain situations in different games. One big plus point we found is that the Nintendo Wii is really family friendly; it's a gaming experience that everyone in our family can enjoy because of the versatility and massive range of games.
Disadvantages of the Nintendo Wii
What we didn't realise when getting a Nintendo Wii was that it wouldn't come with games. This is only a slight con, because I really think that getting a Wii worth £180 free is worth spending £50 on a few games to use with it. When I invited a friend round to play on the new Wii he had a look at the specs and was disappointed with the fact that the Nintendo Wii only has a maximum resolution of 480p, which (we found out after some research) is lower than the high definition resolution of the PS3 (1080p). After using a PS3 I could see the difference between its graphics and that of the Nintendo Wii. If high detailed graphics is a big issue with when you're gaming and you like to keep up with the latest technology then you should probably avoid this console to avoid disappointment. However, saying that, if you're just using it as I am, for some fun with the kids during the holidays then I really don't think it makes a difference. We were also quite impressed when we read that our new Nintendo Wii would have a free online gaming feature as it was heavily advertised as a major feature of the console we but disappointed to find out that its only be compatible with certain games.
Summary of the Nintendo Wii
Overall I would definitely recommend the free Nintendo Wii with mobile contact package if you're just after a bit of fun and not any serious gaming. My family and I have definitely enjoyed the time we're spent together playing on it!
